Heavy duty ball to cushion your DIY rocker plate, approx. 6 inch / 15 cm in diameter
To absorb / dampen the tilting movement of your self-made DIY rocker plate, it is best to use a PVC rubber ball. It is ideal for achieving maximum damping comfort and is extremely resistant and can withstand even the most intense races.
The damping behavior of balls on rocker plates is not linear but rather progressive. The greater your tilt angle of the rocker plate, the more the ball dampens, which leaves you with an excellent driving experience.
We have this ball made especially for us, so it weighs more than the usual 6 inch ball because it has multiple layers of rubber. The weight of our 6 inch rocker plate ball is therefore around 80 grams higher, and the ball is correspondingly more robust.
The built-in valve is also of high quality. The DIY Rocker Plate 6 inch ball can be inflated with a commercially available ball pump or with your bicycle pump to which you only have to attach a ball needle. Please moisten the needle properly before putting it into the valve!
The pressure that you should put on the ball naturally varies greatly depending on your preference and structure. More pressure, less tilt angle and vice versa. For most of them, the pressure levels off at 0.1-0.15 bar / 1.45 psi - 2,9 psi , depending on the body / system weight.
For the exact setting of the ball pressure, we strongly recommend that you use our ball pressure gauge. With this tool it is very easy to set the desired pressure on both balls.
We have set up Rocker Plate FAQs for you on our pages and have created a small article about ball pressure / damping methods etc. here.
