If you are an avid Zwifter, you have certainly seen the MTB tracks. There you have the opportunity to ride a MTB course on Zwift and steer at the same time. Until now, the steering function was only possible via a mobile phone attached to the handlebar. Here Zwift uses the built-in acceleration sensors in your cell phone to find out the steering direction. Until now, this feature required a movable front wheel on your indoor cycling setup. Two sheets of paper under the front wheel were the simplest solution, followed by some self-made things that make the front wheel turn.
Elite now offers you a technically mature and electronic solution, the Sterzo Smart.
The electronic steering unit from Elite, STERZO SMART , is one of the most interesting innovations of this year to give your indoor training even more realism and before all have fun to have. Compared to its mechanical counterpart, STERZO SMART is indeed intelligent - it connects wirelessly to Zwift to communicate the movements of the front wheel and its angles of rotation. EXCLUSIVELY ON ZWIFT
To use STERZO SMART, all you have to do is position the bike connected to the roller on the steering base and connect it to Zwift!
Through the Bluetooth connection with Zwift, STERZO SMART enables you to position your avatar on the screen / on the road and overtake other cyclists on Zwift.
This is certainly a new dimension in indoor cycling in terms of reality.
Functionality
Position the front wheel of the bike on STERZO SMART and make sure that the steering plate is pointing in the right direction. The top of the steering unit faces out with the LEDs on the left.
Move the front wheel left and right to activate the steering in the Zwift application, then you can click on the “Accessories” widget on the pairing screen.
You will find STERZO SMART among the devices to be assigned. The device status is displayed on the STERZO SMART via message LEDs. Find the “Steering Enabled” icon in the lower right corner of Zwift for the icon to view the routes to be pedaled on STERZO SMART.
Optics and design
The patented design of the STERZO SMART consists of a raised front wheel block made of fiber-reinforced polymer material, which contains a rotating unit with a spring, with which you can easily return the handlebars to their original position.
STERZO SMART accepts wheels with tires up to 56 mm.
The design of the swivel support is designed to give the bike the best stability while it is mounted on the castor, while ensuring maximum angular freedom of movement of the bike right and left up to 34 ° per side.
